Reaching Agra :
Upon arrival to Agra, we shall drive to our first destination, which is Taj Mahal. Located on the banks of River Yamuna, Taj Mahal is a beautiful monument and has become a symbol of Indian Tourism. Since centuries, tourists from around the globe visit Agra or even India just to witness the unparallel beauty of Taj Mahal.
Taj Mahal hardly requires any introduction or words to explore its beauty. Just one word is sufficient to describe what it is – Charismatic. The charisma of Taj is so powerful that thousands of attempts were made to replicate this marvellous monument but no one could reach the half of elegance that this monument boasts, leave behind equalling it. In fact, one such attempt lies in Agra itself, called Baby Taj. And honestly, it is one of the most successful attempts to replicate the Taj. We'll explore that monument later on the day and you will have all the time to compare these two, to get a clear idea of what difference the actual Taj and its replicas have.
So, the story revolves around fifth of Mughal Emperors, Shah Jahan, who thought to build a monument in honour of his wife who died while giving birth to their 14th child. He employed 25,000 workers to build this masterpiece, and the hard work of straight 22 years bought this marvel in shape. If you are at Taj, don't forget to salute the true love of the Emperor for his wife and don't forget to salute the hard work of those 25,000 people who worked day-in-and-day-out to make a dream come true.
Baby Taj :
Among the thousands of attempts to replicate Taj Mahal is Baby Taj, the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula. Located at a short distance from its larger counterpart, this is also a beautiful monument and a worth visiting sight. Baby Taj is not just famous for its marvellous architecture but also has its great historical and religious importance.
Enter the Bon Barbeque Restaurant, one of the finest restaurants in Agra, to enjoy a delicious lunch. Here, spend some time in rest before resuming your journey.
Agra Fort :
The sightseeing resumes with Agra Fort. Among dozens of forts built during Mughal Empire, Agra Fort is perhaps the largest and most prominent. This is because this fort has remained the powerhouse in Indian history for many decades. Also, it's a live witness of the rise and collapse of the Mughal Empire.
The Agra Fort is remembered in history for being the most remarkable element of the Mughal Dynasty. Served as a residence for four generations of Mughal Empire, this Fort has also witnessed the black days when Aurangzeb, last of the Mughal Emperors, imprisoned his father Shah Jahan in the fort in greed of power. Along with being the birthplace of some of the most powerful people in the Mughal Empire, Agra Fort has also witnessed the deaths of some people who mattered.
Today, the Fort is maintained by the Government of India and has been transformed into a royal museum. Within the fort, you may find a whole lot of belongings of the erstwhile rulers.
With the last destination covered, we shall reach back to Agra Railway Station to catch Shatabdi back to Delhi. Dinner will be served on your seat in the train. Upon reaching Delhi, we shall drop you back at your hotel or Indira Gandhi International Airport. The Same Day Agra Tour by Train ends here. Thank you for being a wonderful traveller.
